It was 1886 when pharmacist John Pemberton, looking for commercial success post-Civil War, created the syrup for Coca-Cola. The man carried a jug of his new product down to the local pharmacy and sold it for five cents a glass, instantly receiving rave reviews. The syrup was then combined with carbonated water to become one of, if not the most popular and recognizable drink around the globe. It was Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, who came up with the name of the product and penned that name in cursive as you still see on cans and bottles today. Pemberton died before Coca-Cola reached its potential, but without the man it wouldn’t exist.

While a glass of Coca-Cola is the perfect thing on a hot day, the soft drink can also be utilized in the kitchen. May Lynn, who runs the popular “Cooking With May Lynn” YouTube page, created a brief, easy to follow tutorial on how to make Coca-Cola chicken wings. The combination of soy sauce and the soft drink creates the perfect sweet and salty blend.
