Originating in Italy, Nutella is a popular chocolate hazelnut spread which in recent years has become a staple condiment alongside peanut butter here in the United States. It was created by bakery owner Pietro Ferrero in the 1940s. Nutella, which was called Supercrema originally, was conceived as an affordable alternative to chocolate that made use of the abundant hazelnuts that grew in Ferrero’s native Alba, Piedmont.
Now the spread is known worldwide and has even garnered its own official day, World Nutella Day, which is held on the 5th of February. Here in the states, you can find Nutella in a wide variety of desserts from cookies to crepes and even on the breakfast table, serving as a welcome substitute to the traditional butter or jam.
In this mouthwatering recipe though, Nutella is the focal point of a decadent no-bake cheesecake. This dessert may seem like something out of a fancy Italian bakery, but it’s so easy you could make one every day of the week!
